Advanced users, like developers and testers, may need more flexibility when verifying a URL's response. With Send HTTP Tool, you may configure your own HTTP request and send it to any URL. It comes with numerous options, which are well organized on a user friendly interface. It also provides detailed reports regarding the URL's response.

Send HTTP Tool is one of the four applications developed by Soft-Net. Like its counterparts, Send HTTP Tool is freeware and it can be installed swiftly on Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7. The setup wizard may install a registry cleaner as well, but you can choose to accept or deny with a single click.

All the configurations are made on the same window. Besides typing or pasting a URL, you may select an HTTP protocol and one of 26 methods, such as Connect, Get, Trace, Poll and others. You can also choose what headers to send. The software allows you to define your own header names and values. You can type these details and select them in a table of contents.

It is also possible to send a request, using a proxy, and to set up various security measures. The software can be set to send a request anonymously or you can select other impersonation levels, provide login credentials and more. Another feature is the possibility of selecting a different cache policy. Depending on your selection, Send HTTP Tool will perform different actions, like bypassing the cache, refresh, reload or revalidate your URL and more. Furthermore, you can choose to allow redirections or not and set up a maximum number of redirections.

If you are satisfied with your settings, you just need to click a button, in the lower left area of the screen, to send your request. When the process is complete, the software will place a detailed report at your disposal. The report contains various response properties, response headers, the web site's cookies and the response's HTML code.

Pros

Configuring the software to send an HTTP request is not difficult. Send HTTP Tool places numerous options at your disposal, so you can set up your request anyway you want. Sending a request and generating a report take only a few seconds. The report itself includes a good number of details regarding the URL's response.

Cons

You need to be careful when installing the software, otherwise the setup wizard will make changes to your default web browser. Send HTTP Tool gives you more flexibility and it makes easier to send an HTTP request to any URL.
